Peter
Sellers
Complete
Lennon & McCartney Sessions
Plus Completely Goon
Front Back Label
Peter Sellers had a long history of being produced by George Martin and released several records on the Parlophone label before collaborating on these Lennon-McCartney titles.
The Goons was a 1950s BBC radio series, mostly written by Spike Milligan and featuring Spike, Peter sellers and Harry Secombe. (Michael Bentine featured in the first series and Eric Sykes was a frequent contibutor).
The Goons was the first surreal radio series and influenced the history of British Comedy including Monty Python’s Flying Circus and, of course, the Beatles. John’s poems are heavily influenced by Spike Milligan’s poems (recommended read) and The Beatles humour borrows from Peter’s vocal skills in mimicking voices and personalities and his cutting wit.
